Boat tour- Pujiang Cruise

The boat cruise will be started from the west bank (Puxi) ferry pier. Visitors can watch the skyline of Shanghai on the east side, have a sight of the traditional buildings on the west side, listen to the whistle from the boats travelling on the Huangpu River and enjoy the soft wind saying hello to guests from all around the world. The tour will last about one hour and return back to the west bank ferry pier.

A brief introduction to Huangpu River

Huangpu River(Huang Pu Jiang in Chinese), a symbol of Shanghai, originates in Dianshan Lake and empties into the Yangtze River at Wusongkou (mouth of Wusong River). It is 114 kilometers (71miles) long and 400 meters (0.25 miles) wide. Huangpu River is ice-free year round. The river divides Shanghai into east and west. It is a silent eyewitness to Shanghai's history and its development.

The west bank (Puxi) of the Huangpu River is the cultural, residential and entertainment center of Shanghai. The Bund, Monument to the People's Heroes, Waibaidu Bridge and the oldest park in Shanghai - Huangpu Park, are located on the west bank. The east bank of the river (Pudong) is the newer district of Shanghai and its financial and commercial hub. Steel and glass structures are abundant here. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jin Mao Tower, skyscraper hotels, offices and malls of the Lujiazui Financial Zone are located on this side of the river.

When the sun sets, Huangpu River(Huang Pu Jiang) is veiled in the glittery neon lights on its banks. Cruising on Huangpu River in the evening, visitors can experience its silence and beauty under the moonlight.

Technical Tour

Technical tour- State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering Visit

The visitors will be picked up at Tongji Hotel. Shuttle buses will take visitors to the first laboratory in Jiading Campus, the largest campus of TongjiUnnivsertiy. After a close look at the experiment center, shuttle buses will take visitors back to Siping Road Campus. In there visitors are going to see the State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering in Siping Road Campus. The whole technical tour will last for half day.After the visit there will be a frugal lunch and then buses will take visitors back to hotel.

State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering in TongjiUniversity consists of several laboratories.

In Jiading Campus, The Multi-functional Shake Tables Lab of Tongji Universityis the largest multifunctional vibration experiment center in the world.It consists of four tables.All four tables are moveable within the first 70-meter trench and work as a large linear shake table array. Tables can work in same way or with relative motion.Two of these tables can be placed in the second 30-meter long trench and are moveable throughout its length. Four tables can work as a rectangular shake table array. Multiple shake tables can work in same way or with relative motion. Two main tables (B,C table) can be combined into a large shake table used as a single shake table.

Performance Specifications

In Siping Road Campus, there are one shaking table testing division and four wind tunnel laboratories. The Shaking Table Testing Division was established in early 1975. In 1983, one two-dimensional earthquake simulation testing system was imported from MTS, USA. In 1991, the system was upgraded to a three-dimensional system with six-degree of freedom. The four wind tunnels are TJ-1, TJ-2, TJ3 and TJ-4, which have different scales and applications.
